Send a vehicle home with confidence
Late in a pass there's a moment every dispatcher knows: the board is mostly green and you start wondering whether you still need the whole fleet out. Wind-Down answers that with numbers instead of a hunch.
What it says
When the fleet is genuinely over-provisioned, the pass card shows a quiet suggestion: you could release one machine at about X and still finish by about Y (+Z min). All three numbers come from your fleet's measured per-machine pace on this pass — how fast each vehicle is actually clearing stops — not a generic estimate.
How it decides
Wind-Down only appears when the projection is trustworthy: at least two machines out, a measured drain rate, and work remaining. It computes the latest moment one machine could drop off while the rest still land within a small grace window — about half an hour — of the current projected finish. If releasing anyone would blow past that window, no suggestion shows at all.
What it never does
- It never acts on its own. No machine is ever released automatically — you decide, using the normal leave and recall flows.
- It never names a machine. Which vehicle goes home — fuel, hours, who's been out longest — is your call, not the algorithm's.
Why it matters
Every vehicle-hour at the tail of a storm is real money. Release too early and you strand the endgame; too late and you burn payroll on a pass that's already won. Wind-Down finds the pivot point and shows you the price of taking it — then leaves the decision where it belongs.
