The monthly usage snapshot

What the snapshot is

Each month, Snowmass records a usage snapshot for your organization. It's the source of truth your invoice is built from, so it always matches what you're billed. The snapshot captures:

• Active-vehicle count — the distinct vehicles that deployed at least once that month (the figure your per-vehicle charge is based on, in season).
• SMS volume — the customer texts sent on your behalf, which drive the SMS pass-through line.

The monthly base fee is fixed and doesn't depend on the snapshot. Your crew isn't in the snapshot at all, because operators, dispatchers, and office staff are never billed.

Why it exists

The snapshot gives you a transparent, month-by-month record you can reconcile against each Stripe invoice. If an invoice figure ever surprises you, the snapshot is where you confirm the active-vehicle count and SMS volume that produced it.

Reading it

Think of the snapshot as the "meter reading" for the month. The base is fixed; the two variable inputs — active vehicles and SMS — are exactly what the snapshot records. In the off-season the active-vehicle count is typically zero, so those months bill at just the base.

A note on synthetic orgs

Practice and simulation sandboxes never generate real usage — they don't count vehicles or send billable messages, so they never appear on an invoice. Only your live operation produces a billable snapshot.

Where to find it

The snapshot lives in your billing area alongside the link to the Stripe Billing Portal, visible to admins.
