How pricing works

The parts of your bill

Snowmass pricing is deliberately simple. Each monthly invoice is built from:

1. A monthly base fee — a flat platform fee for your organization, billed every month of the year. It keeps your customer records, zones, geocoding, and routing live through the off-season so you're ready the day the first storm lands.
2. Per active vehicle — a charge for each vehicle that actually deployed during the month (see What "active vehicle" means). It only appears in season and self-zeroes in months when nothing rolls out.
3. SMS pass-through — the customer texts Snowmass sent on your behalf, billed at the carrier's cost plus a small markup percentage. Email alerts carry no per-message charge.

Your crew is always free

There is no per-seat or per-user fee. Invite every operator, dispatcher, and office person you have — the whole team, with no limit, at no additional cost. You're billed for the vehicles that plow, never for the people who log in.

Why the base is billed every month

Snowmass isn't just a storm-night tool. All summer you're updating customer info, adding and geocoding new properties, drawing zones, and prepping routes — and your data stays live and backed up. The monthly base fee covers that. It also means the moment you gain or lose a customer shows up right away, instead of waiting until the first storm to find out who came back.

Why per active vehicle, in season only

Snow work is seasonal and spiky. Billing on vehicles that actually deployed means a quiet month costs less than a storm-heavy one, and the off-season adds nothing beyond the base. A vehicle that never deploys is never counted, so spares are free automatically — nothing to flag.

SMS is a pass-through, not a profit centre

Texts are billed close to what they cost. The base carrier rate plus a configurable markup covers Snowmass's overhead on message delivery; you can keep SMS costs down by leaning on email alerts, which are free per-message, and by using quiet hours to avoid redundant sends.

Currency, taxes, and exact figures

Your organization is billed in its configured currency (Canadian or US dollars), and applicable taxes are handled at checkout and on your invoices. Your exact base and per-vehicle rates are set with you when your account is created — talk to us for the numbers for your fleet.

Where the numbers come from

Every charge traces back to the monthly usage snapshot Snowmass records for your organization — the active-vehicle count and the SMS volume for that month. See the monthly usage snapshot article to understand exactly what's measured.
