Geofence arrival radius
How close a tractor must reach a property pin to auto-complete the visit.
What it does
The geofence arrival radius is the zero-touch completion gate. When a tractor's GPS gets within this many metres of a property's pin, Snowmass can automatically mark the service visit as arrived/complete — no tap on the tablet required. It's how the field logging stays hands-free while an operator is running a machine.
Setting the value
The radius is entered in metres (always metric, independent of your distance-unit setting, because it's tied to GPS precision). The valid range is 0 to 500 metres.
- A tighter radius (for example 20–30 m) demands the tractor genuinely reach the pin before a visit auto-completes — more precise, but sensitive to how accurately each property pin was placed.
- A looser radius tolerates pin placement and GPS drift, at the cost of possibly crediting a visit when the machine is merely nearby.
- Zero disables it — set the radius to 0 and auto-completion by geofence is off; visits are completed another way (operator action or dispatcher).
Accuracy matters
Snowmass ignores GPS fixes that are too imprecise (readings worse than about 50 m of accuracy are dropped) before testing the geofence, so a noisy fix won't falsely trip a completion. Even so, the quality of your property pins is what makes a tight radius reliable — place pins carefully at the point a tractor actually reaches.
Choosing
Start moderate (around 30–40 m) and tighten only if you find visits completing while machines are still a lot away. Loosen it if legitimately-arrived visits aren't registering because pins sit deep inside large properties.
