Exporting & sharing responsibly

Get data out of Snowmass cleanly, and handle exported files with care.

Reports & audit Updated 2026-08-09

From Snowmass to wherever you need it

Reports don't have to stay in Snowmass. Any report you filter can leave as a file:

  • CSV — the raw rows, ready for a spreadsheet or a billing system.
  • PDF — a formatted document for a customer, a claim, or your records.

Pick CSV when something else will consume the numbers, and PDF when a person will read it.

A note on what leaves the boundary

Inside Snowmass, your workspace data is strictly isolated — nobody in another organization can see it. An exported file no longer has that protection. Once a CSV or PDF is on someone's laptop or in an email, it's outside Snowmass's guardrails.

So handle exports the way you'd handle any customer record:

  • send them only to people who should have them,
  • avoid forwarding them further than needed,
  • delete stale copies you no longer require.

Keeping exports honest

Because reports read straight from the operational record as it was logged in the field, an export reflects what actually happened — it isn't a hand-edited summary. If a customer questions a figure, you can trace it back to the underlying record rather than reconstructing it from memory.

For the immutable history behind any figure, see The append-only audit log; for how to build the report in the first place, see Running reports & exports.
