Signing in with a 6-digit code

No passwords to remember

Snowmass is passwordless. There is nothing to memorize, reset, or leak. When you sign in, you enter your email and Snowmass sends you a 6-digit code to type back in.

How it works

1. Enter your email address on the sign-in screen.
2. Check your inbox for a code (it arrives by courriel within a moment).
3. Type the 6 digits to finish signing in.

The code is:

• Short-lived — it expires 15 minutes after it's sent.
• Limited — you get up to 5 attempts before it locks, so a guessed code won't get anyone in.
• Email-scoped — the code proves you control the inbox; which workspace you land in is decided afterward.

If your code doesn't arrive

• Check spam or junk, and confirm you typed the right address.
• Wait a moment and request a new code — the newest code is the valid one.
• If it still doesn't come, your address may not be on any workspace yet; ask an admin to invite you.

Why passwordless

For a field tool used on shared tablets in the cab, passwords are a liability — they get written on sticky notes and reused. A one-time code tied to your inbox is both easier in the moment and harder to compromise.
