TCPA compliance & consent
Snowmass only texts contacts who have consented, and records that consent.
Consent before contact
Text-message rules (including the U.S. TCPA) require that you have permission before sending automated SMS. Snowmass is built to keep you on the right side of that line.
- A phone or email channel must be verified before send — an unconfirmed number is never texted.
- Consent status is tracked per channel on each contact, so there's a record of who agreed to what.
- Synthetic organizations (demos and tests) never send real messages at all.
Per-channel, not all-or-nothing
Consent is stored per channel. A customer can agree to email updates but decline SMS, and Snowmass honors that split — it will send the courriel and skip the text.
Opt-out is always available
Every recipient can stop messages at any time:
- replying STOP to an SMS halts texts immediately (handled through Twilio),
- customers with a portal account can turn notifications off there.
Opting out is one-way from the customer's side: once someone opts out, that preference sticks until an operator re-enables the channel — there's no self-serve re-subscribe.
Your responsibility
Snowmass enforces verification, quiet hours, and STOP handling automatically, but you are responsible for collecting consent honestly and keeping your contact list current. When in doubt, ask the customer to confirm the number and channel they want.
