Set vehicle count, type, and speed
Tune the fleet in the scenario — how many machines, what kind, and how fast they travel.

The fleet knobs
In the settings tab, a scenario carries a small set of vehicle parameters. These are what you change between runs to answer real questions.
- Vehicle count — how many machines are working the storm. This is the single most useful knob: run three, then run four, and watch the difference.
- Vehicle type — the class of machine in the scenario.
- Speed — how fast the fleet travels. Snowmass uses this against real road distances to estimate travel time, rather than assuming a fixed pace.
How they feed the engine
These settings are normalized into the same shape the live dispatcher reads, so the simulated fleet scores and claims properties exactly as a real one would — including real-road travel time from the depot outward.
A practical way to use them
- Set a baseline — the fleet you'd realistically field.
- Run it and note the coverage and how long it takes.
- Change one parameter — usually add or remove a machine.
- Run again and compare.
Changing one thing at a time is what turns a simulation into a decision: you can attribute the difference to the change you made.
