Opening an event (a storm)
Start the storm that everything else — passes, runs, and service visits — lives under.
Storms, runs & passes

An event is the storm
An event is a single storm: the top-level container for one weather episode. Every pass you dispatch, every operator run, and every service visit belongs to an event. Opening one is how a storm officially begins in Snowmass — it's the thing you'll close out when the snow's done and cleared.
Open an event
- Open Events and choose New event.
- Name it so it's findable later — a date plus a hint works well ("Jan 14 — freezing rain").
- Confirm the location(s) the storm covers.
- Open it.
The event now exists as an open storm, ready for you to dispatch passes into. On its own it hasn't sent anyone anywhere yet — a fresh event is an empty stage; the pass is what puts the fleet on it.
What happens under an event
- You build and activate passes over your properties (see Creating a pass).
- Operators join runs on their vehicles and the swarm starts claiming properties.
- Customers with a live view see the storm progress and moving ETAs.
- When it's all cleared, you close the storm out.
Good habits
- One storm, one event. Don't reuse yesterday's event for today's snow — a clean event per storm keeps your history and billing readable.
- Open it a little early. Having the event ready before the first flake means you can dispatch the moment you decide to roll, not scramble to set up.
