Direction control: outside-in, inside-out, or nearest-first

Choose how the swarm works a zone, anchored to your depot — the strategy you'd give a crew, applied to the whole fleet.

You set the strategy; the swarm executes it

Different storms and different zones want different attack patterns. Snowmass lets you pick the direction the swarm works, anchored to your depot, and then the engine applies it to every claim automatically.

The three directions

  • Outside-in — the fleet starts at the far edge of the zone and works back toward the depot. Good when the farthest customers must not fall behind, or when you want to be working your way home as the storm winds down.
  • Inside-out — the fleet clears close to the depot first and pushes outward. Good for getting high-priority core properties open fast, or staging near the yard early in a storm.
  • Nearest-first — pure proximity, ignoring inside/outside bias. The engine simply favors whatever is closest by real road time. Good for maximum raw throughput when every property has similar priority.

How it fits the score

Direction isn't a hard rule that overrides everything — it's a weight in the live score, measured from the depot anchor. Outside-in rewards properties farther from the depot; inside-out rewards closer ones; nearest-first leans on travel time alone. It blends with density cohesion and real road distance, so the fleet honors your chosen direction while still sweeping dense blocks and avoiding wasteful cross-town hops.

Why it matters

  • Match the plan to the storm — protect distant properties, or open the core first, on demand.
  • One setting, whole fleet — you're steering strategy, not micromanaging tractors.
  • Predictable coverage — you can tell a customer how their area will be worked, not just that it will be.
