Mass stand-down: calling off a storm

When the forecast breaks your way

Sometimes the storm you mobilized for never arrives, or downgrades overnight. A mass stand-down sends one message to everyone you called in and tells them to stand down — stay home, the run is off.

How to use it

1. Open a stand-down for the storm you'd mobilized.
2. Snowmass emails each operator who holds an availability on the event.
3. Everyone gets the same clear message, at the same time — no partial phone tree where half the crew shows up to an empty shop.

Why it's a first-class action

Calling off a storm is as important as calling one on. Left to texts and voicemails, stand-downs are where crews get burned — people drive in for nothing, or worse, don't get the word and you pay for a shop full of idle operators.

Making stand-down a single, tracked action means:

• One source of truth — every operator on the event gets the same email.
• A record — you can see it went out and to whom.
• Goodwill — respecting your crew's time when the weather doesn't cooperate is how you keep people answering the next poll.

A stand-down closes the loop on a mobilization cleanly, so the next storm starts from a clean slate.
