What a vehicle is
A vehicle is one machine in your fleet — a tractor, a loader, a plow rig, a sidewalk unit. An operator picks a vehicle when they start a run, and the swarm uses that machine's speed and the services it runs to decide what work it should claim. Every machine you dispatch needs a record here.
Add a vehicle
- Open Vehicles and choose New vehicle.
- Give it a name operators will recognize on a tablet — the unit number painted on the machine beats an internal asset ID.
- Set its type so the fleet knows what class of work it handles (see Vehicle types & the services they run).
- Set its speed — the working pace Snowmass uses to estimate travel and stops (see Vehicle speed & dispatch).
- Save.
Keep the roster honest
- One record per machine. Don't share a record between two units — the swarm treats it as a single mover and your ETAs go wrong.
- Name for the field, not the office. The operator reads this name at 3 a.m.; make it obvious.
- Retire, don't delete. A machine sold or scrapped should be taken out of service so its past storms and service visits stay on the record.
A vehicle with a name, a type, and a speed is ready to run. You can refine its services and billing any time without disrupting an active storm.
