Locations & where your fleet is based
Tie machines, depots, and operators to the regions they actually serve.
One region, one set of resources
A location is a region your fleet services, and it's the thread that ties your setup together: properties live in a location, a depot anchors it, and the machines and operators who cover it work out of that yard. Keeping this alignment clean is what lets a pass built over a location dispatch sensibly.
Match your fleet to your locations
- Give each location the depot that actually stages the machines serving it.
- When you build a pass over a location, the machines running it should be the ones based at that location's yard — otherwise start-spread and distances drift.
- If a region grows its own crew and yard, give it its own location rather than stretching one across two operating areas.
Restricting operators to a location
Snowmass can limit an operator to specific locations, so a driver only sees and runs the region they're assigned to. Use it when:
- You run separate crews per region and don't want cross-region confusion.
- A subcontractor should only touch their zone.
- You want an operator's vehicle list and stops scoped to where they actually work.
Leave it open for a flexible fleet that floats between regions; lock it down where boundaries between crews are real. Either way, the goal is the same — the machines, the yard, and the people for a region all point at the same location, so a storm dispatched there behaves the way the map suggests it should.
